Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how OpLine ("OpLine," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the OpLine mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Amateur radio call sign and AllStarLink credentials. Required to connect to nodes on the AllStarLink network. Stored locally on your device.
- Favorites and settings. Nodes and nets you save, plus your in-app preferences. Stored locally on your device.
- Contact information. If you email us for support, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Device and diagnostic data. If you opt in, we may receive crash logs and basic diagnostic information (device model, iOS version, anonymized identifiers) through Apple's standard developer reporting tools to help us fix bugs.
- Connection metadata. When you connect to an AllStarLink node, your IP address and connection details are visible to that node and the AllStarLink network, the same as with any other AllStarLink client.
Microphone access
The App requests permission to use your device's microphone so you can transmit voice on AllStarLink. Audio is captured only while you are actively transmitting (push-to-talk). We do not record, store, or analyze your transmissions on our servers.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, calendar, or health data.
- We do not track your precise location.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that build a profile of you.
2. How we use information
- To operate the App and connect you to AllStarLink nodes you select.
- To save your preferences and favorites on your device.
- To send you alerts you have specifically opted into (for example, net start reminders).
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- AllStarLink network. Voice you transmit and your call sign are sent to the AllStarLink nodes you connect to and to any operators currently linked to those nodes. This is the inherent purpose of amateur radio over IP and is not under our control once it leaves your device.
- Service providers. We may use trusted vendors (for example, Apple for app distribution, push notifications, and crash reporting) that process limited data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
4. Data retention
Information stored locally on your device remains until you delete the App or clear its data. Support emails are retained as long as needed to assist you and for our records. Diagnostic data is retained for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized.
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. However, no system is perfectly secure. AllStarLink traffic itself is not end-to-end encrypted by design - amateur radio communications are intended to be received by other licensed operators.
6. Children's privacy
OpLine is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because most data stays on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly: delete favorites in the App, sign out, or uninstall. For other requests, email us at privacy@opline.app.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. You may request access to or deletion of your personal information using the contact below.
European Economic Area / UK residents (GDPR)
Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (operating the App at your request), legitimate interests (improving and securing the App), consent (where required, e.g. notifications), and legal obligations.
8. International users
The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries that may have different data protection laws.
9. Third-party services
The App connects to the AllStarLink network, which is operated by third parties and governed by its own policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of AllStarLink or other operators on the network.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
